Mangrove Wildlife Observation Unit

>Project Introduction

Continuing from the previous individual project, students were to expand on the previous lookout structure to produce a mangrove wildlife observation centre. The structure was to include not just observational spaces and functions but also living spaces fit for 3 people at any given time. As per the previous assignment, site response was important, as well as sustainability in design and construction.

>Model

Done in scale 1:100. Vines make a return, in keeping with the previous structure design. Brown cork board represents timber material while white card represents steel structure. This building employs an extremely open concept, with few walls and only thin, cloth partitions acting as movable walls and barriers in an effort to create a sense of intimacy with nature and our surroundings

>Boards

3 A1 Boards were required, to be filled with technical drawings, perspectives, exploded axonometric, construction details and diagrams. I used perspective views to show both the use of spaces and as concept diagrams. The first board depicts overall concept, the second details and construction, and the third all technical drawings and perspective diagrams.

>Reflection

Serving as the ultimate culmination of the previous 3 projects, this final assignment serves as a practical application of all that we have learned throughout the semester in one project.
