My name is Ryan Choong. I finished my degree in architecture course in the year 2021 at Taylor’s University Malaysia. I have always had a strong interest in art & architecture, and seek to design buildings which challenge the pre-conceived norms of architectural design, pursuing greater meaning in design through forming my own architectural philosophy.

 

As an artist & architect, to conform is to stagnate to what people think is art, to go against the true definition of art and to make it into the very machine which art itself was made to defy, for without different expressions and ideologies, without the exploration of oneself and free thought, we cease to be human.

 

My philosophy in design is to put artistic expression as the priority, and to create that expression & compound it into an architectural spatial experience that contributes to my overall design narrative. Fundamentally, I believe a strong narrative & concept is the most important baseline for any architectural composition, as without it, the architectural process would become formulaic and thus lack personality & soul.
