Lookout Structure

>Project Introduction

As an individual design project, each student was tasked to design a lookout structure on the site of Kuala Selangor Nature Park, with a strong focus on site response for the design. A scale model of the project was needed, with 2 explanatory A2 boards depicting technical drawings and details.

>Model

Done in scale 1:100, with human figures in place depicting how spaces are used. The structure employs the form and function of mangrove roots to create the disorderly sense of exploration typical to jungle exploration. The structure lays organically above the ground and water, facilitating interaction in the site

>Boards

2 Boards serve as concept and function explanation, including diagrams for site context response. Perspectives and human figures demonstrate how the space is used. Technical drawings of the structure are also present, done to scale 1:100.

>Reflection

We learned to apply our prior knowledge based on the previous task of site analysis in this project. This taught us the benefits of studying the site prior to beginning any design work as a part of the design process.
