Drawings

>Project Introduction

For our second project, we were tasked with drawing a series of 3 drawings based on the Farnsworth house  by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. All drawings are to be done by hand and to scale depending on which drawings they were.

>Orthographic Projections

The task was to draw a 1:75 scale drawing of the plan view, then project measurements from that into orthographic drawings of the elevations and sections of the house. I compared several real plan and elevation drawings available online to each other in order to determine accurate measurements, as the ones given were incomplete, and thus would have made my drawings and all subsequent ones inaccurate as well.

>Axonometric Projections

From our plan we were to produce an exploded axonometric projection, done to scale and with the roof elevated so as to show the interior spaces.

>Perspective

To get perspectives, we projected from the plan to maintain a proper scale. In my case, I enlarged my plan first to produce my one-point interior perspective and did the opposite (drawing then enlarging my perspective) to produce my two-point perspective.

>Reflection

Drawing orthographic or scaled drawings takes immense patience and precision, which I learned in this assignment. I also learned the importance of finding accurate measurements and scale throughout my drawings.
