Design Exploration
>Project Introduction
As the first project, us students were given relative freedom to explore the meaning and application of design elements and principles and then tasked with using this knowledge to create 6 models of 10cm x 10cm x 10cm size and 6 10cm by 10cm square "tattoo stamps" that made design sense.
>Models
As per the task, I took 1 design principle and 1 element to create my models. I used mostly angular forms as I am most comfortable working with angular shapes and appliques. All models were done in hard model board with a model board base.
>Presentation Board & Tattoo Stamps
Extracting the central design principles and elements from my models, I conceived of 6 tattoo stamps that represented the models and their design concepts in the form of an abstract art.
>Reflection
The project was only week 1 long, leaving very little time for deep exploration of design concepts. Yet, the project did not require a deep dive into the complexities of design but rather was aimed at allowing students to practice and master the absolute basics of design, which I firmly believe this task achieved its intended goal.
