Building Analysis
>Project Introduction
As a group we were tasked with analysis a given building by a distinguished architect, with a specific focus on the building's response to the site, climate and context. This information would then be composed onto 3 A2 boards, with accompanying diagrammatic models and drawings.
>Boards
The boards include perspectives and technical drawings, with writings explaining the background of the site and the architect, and diagrams explaining ways the building responds to site context and climate based on the aspects of: circulation, natural lighting, hierarchy, parti, structure, etc.
>Models
Models serve as accompanying representations of each diagram present on the main board, with an accompanying explanation.
>Reflection
The project serves as the foundation for the next series of projects throughout this design module as it introduces us to the concept of site response and diagrammatic illustrations, in the form of a precedent study. This topic is of particular importance as it taught us how designs are made specifically with the site in mind rather than being a building completely separate from it.
